About Baptism – SOLD

Baptism is a visual ritual, an intimate confrontation between softness and shadow. At its center, a single golden eye peers out through a tangle of hands: some tender, flesh-toned, human. Others are dark, scaled, and inhuman, like a guardian or a threat. The result is a moment of tension, surrender, and spiritual reckoning.

Rendered in oil and sculpted with apoxie over a 20″ x 20″ wood panel, the surface itself echoes this duality, smooth brushwork alongside tactile, raised textures. The composition is tight, cropped, and inescapable. It asks the viewer to come close and sit with the discomfort of transformation.

This is not a gentle baptism. It is fierce and necessary. A crossing over. A moment of being seen by the parts of ourselves we often avoid.
